AYLA's general overview report records more than 5,000 students served by the online programme across fourteen provinces, and over forty free Duolingo English Test coupons awarded since 2023. Recipients have gone on to universities in the United States and Europe.
AYLA's volunteer German language professors have offered to pay the B1 and B2 examination fees for students in their classes who are working toward study in Germany and Austria — removing the last cost barrier for that cohort.
Four applicants selected through AYLA's application process sat the Duolingo English Test on donated coupons, bringing the initiative past forty coupons in total since it began in 2023.
AYLA published its full Round 5 report covering enrolment, attendance, course evaluations, teacher and student feedback, and expenditure. Eleven classes ran simultaneously from June to September 2023 for around 300 students.
A $5,100 grant from Ideas Beyond Border covered internet packages for roughly 300 girls and 10 volunteers through Round 5, and supported five AYLA members inside Afghanistan with $50 per month for three months.
AYLA began working with the Duolingo English Test team to provide free test coupons to deserving Afghan youth, primarily women — the start of an initiative that has now run for four rounds.
With most universities, schools and learning centres closed to girls, AYLA launched a remote education initiative so that students shut out of formal education could keep studying from home.
AYLA's first major project. Over two days, one hundred university students presented their ideas on peace and education to a panel of four academic judges — the model of young Afghans convening young Afghans that the organisation still runs on.
